Every year PAF contributes to the programme of Fest Anča festival (24–28 June, Žilina, Slovakia). This year’s representative is ScreenSaverGallery, the gallery of contemporary art in screen savers which is closely connected with PAF.
ScreenSaverGallery (SSG) is a unique exhibition project that originated at the end of 2013. At that time PAF presented an extensive programme section dedicated to the internet art and therefore important cooperation of artists and curators started. Two artists from Brno – Tomáš Javůrek and Barbora Trnková – are leading brains of this project, curators of which are e.g. Marie Meixnerová (PAF) and the art historian from Berlin – Robert Sakrowski (Transmediale, netpioneers etc.). This project became a well-known virtual exhibition space which attracts the attention of artists from all over the world. The gallery hosts exhibitions of famous international artists as well as emerging Czech artists who just started their careers. For more information about conception of the exhibitions see: http://screensaver.metazoa.org/about/
Within the presentation at Fest Anča, Tomáš Javůrek and Barbora Trnková will introduce not only concept and evolution of ScreenSaverGallery in context of history of screen saver phenomenon, but also those artists who have been presented so far and their radical works that use (not only) principles of animation. The full annotation to the lecture is to be found on the festival website.
