From the 8th til the 15th of October, the IndieCork Film Festival took place in Cork, Ireland, where on the 11th of October PAF presented the Animated Visions #1 series and both parts of the Morava, Beautiful Land series with the participation of artists Petr Šprincl and Marie Hájková.
Animated Visions #1 is a sampling of ten years of the Other Visions series, straight through the core, following works created through standard animation techniques. The goal is to show partner festivals, which are aimed more towards traditional manifestations of animation, one of the particular aesthetic elements of PAF.
The ongoing series Morava, Beautiful Land presentes Southern Moravian Slovakia as an intoxicating landscape where wine and yawning are just the only traces of violence. The creators’ exposition suggests a series of motifs at the visual and narrative cross section of folklore, Catholicism, and Satanism. The creators Marie Hájková and Petr Šprincl isolate the symbols and archetypality of the region in the folk traditions of the region as opulence or contradictions in the various subcultures or the fates of their compatriots.
