We are very pleased to announce the curator of Festival of Film Animation Olomouc competition section called Other Visions 2015. Film theoretician Lenka Střeláková is about to choose ten films to enter the competition and to be presented at PAF.
For the ninth year in a row, Other Visions has been the one and only competition section of Festival of Film Animation Olomouc. The aim of the competition is to systematically map current production of moving image, film and video in the Czech Republic. The section focuses on non-commercial creation and border forms occurring on the boundaries of animation, experimental film and video art.
PAF will present the final ten films under the name of Other Visions 2015 throughout the whole year, starting in December. The films will be presented in the Czech Republic as well as in foreign countries.
Each and every year, the selection of ten final films is fairly unique. It is so thanks to the variety of interests and points of view of the approached external curators who decide on the ten nominated films. In the past, some of the curators were for example Přátelský film (Michal Pěchouček, Martin Mazanec), Martin Fišr, Lenka Dolanová, Sylva Poláková, Pavel Ryška, Dušan Zahoranský, David Kořínek and Marika Kupková.
This year’s curator, Lenka Střeláková, has been critically monitoring the issue of moving image on the boundaries of cinema, gallery space and database on a long-term basis. As a shadow editor of Artyčok.TV, she is responsible for the segment of on-line exhibitions. She is also the editor-in-chief of jlbjlt.cz[jelibojelito], an information portal or ‘cultural diary’ dedicated to Czech independent culture.
Střeláková is a graduate of philosophical and art-theoretical studies, Faculty of Humanities Charles University and also a graduate of Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design.
