Who are the finalists in this year’s Other Visions CZ 2016?
Ten works featuring contemporary Czech moving images were selected by the leading Czech curator and art theorist Karel Císař. The ten works selected for the competition will be shown in a screening hall and installed in gallery premises during the competition in the jubilee year of PAF – Festival of Film Animation and Contemporary Art.
The exhibition of the Other Visions CZ 2016 selection will take place from the 1st to the 4th December in the Atrium of Konvikt (UC, UP, Univerzitní 3 Olomouc) and entry will be free to the public. The selection will be presented by PAF throughout the next year, under the name Other Visions CZ 2016, both in the Czech Republic and abroad.

The three-member international jury will decide the Main Award. Finalists also compete for the Audience Award and the Jury’s special recognition. The announcement of the winners will take place on Sunday, 4th of December at the PAF closing ceremony.

The Other Visions CZ competition is the only competition held by PAF – Festival of Film Animation and Contemporary Art. It is part of the Other Visions section which has been exploring Czech production of the moving image since 2007 and, in the long term, deals with issues of distribution, archiving and presentation of the moving image. It focuses on film forms on the boundaries between animation, experimental film and video-art.
