Art theorist Karel Císař is the curator of the 10th year of the Other Visions CZ competition of the Czech moving image
Other Visions has been the only competition at the Festival of Film Animation and Contemporary Art in Olomouc (PAF) since 2007. The competition aims to map out the moving image film and video production within the Czech Republic and focuses on the border forms which exist on the boundary of animation, experimental film and video art.
In cooperation with Kinečko journal and 4 ŽIVLY film festival, the Slovak version of the competition – Other Visions SK – originated in 2016, and aims to map out the production of Slovak moving images. The title of the Czech competition has therefore adopted the epithet CZ.
Each year’s selection of ten competition works is unique due to the different interests of the invited curators. The curators of the recent years of the Czech competition include Friendly Cinema Choice (Michal Pěchouček, Martin Mazanec), Martin Fišr, Lenka Dolanová, Sylva Poláková, Pavel Ryška, Dušan Zahoranský, David Kořínek, Marika Kupková and Lenka Střeláková.
