On Saturday June 2nd 2016, Other Visions were presented at Fest Anča in Žilina, Slovakia. However, on this occasion, this was not a selection from the Czech competition, but a concept of its Slovak version. The open call for Other Visions SK is now under way.
Both PAF and magazine Kinečko, the organizers of the Slovakian competition, will present themselves at the popular Pecha Kucha Anča. The audience at the Slovakian animated film festival’s traditionally most popular programme block will be familiarised with the existence, principles and backstage stories from both the Czech and Slovakian competitions: Other Visions CZ and Other Visions SK.
The author of the Other Visions competition format is PAF. It is a unique competition of the contemporary moving image in film and video, mapping the current non-commercial audio-visual works on the border of experimental film, animation and video art.
While the Czech competition is now celebrating its 10th birthday, the Slovakian competition is about to experience its first year. In both cases, these are the only competitions for these kind of works in both countries—and also the only systematic effort to monitor the audio-visual work in this area.
