PAF recommends Petra Herotová's exhibition in Vitrína Deniska: Věnováno umělci: brýle a koláč (Dedicated to the Artist: glasses and a cake). The opening will take place on Sunday the 16 th of September , 3 pm, at Vitrína Deniska, Olomouc.
Petra Herotová studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts, UT Brno, in the studio of Margita Titlova-Ylovski (Atelier of graphics and visual communication) and at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design,Prague, in the Atelier of intermedia and conceptual art under Jiří David. She has been also involved with the art world as curator of Blansko City Gallery.
She often works with video in her artistic practice, using it also for recording her performances. The major tool of expression in Petra's work is however drawing. With irony and detachment, she uses it to analyze and comment on everyday situations, but also on the attitude to art of herself as well as ofthose closest to her.
The artwork made for Vitrína Deniska, in which the drawing is replaced by embroidery, is athrowback to her friends in Olomouc, a dialogue with them and with the Olomouc audience. But itcan also be understood as an ironic comment on the functioning of the exhibition and cultural world, on evaluation criteria applied on artworks, and on the art in general.
