The opening for the exhibition About Simon Kadlcak / £20 Fine // Experience of Chaos, by the artist Šimon Kadlčák will take place on Monday, July 31.
Šimon Kadlčák (*1990) graduated from the Intermedia Studio at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Brno (formerly under the direction of Václav Stratil, currently Pavel Sterce). In 2014, he completed an internship in photography a studio in Estonian Tartu. In his art he works mainly with painting, drawing and photography. He concentrates on abstract expression through image, and is interested in the relationship between word and image, where he also uses symbols and fonts. He also acts as curator at the Umakart gallery and participates in creating the Brno ArtMap.
> The Glastonbury Festival exploits foreign workers <
In his installation About Simon Kadlcak / £ 20 Fine // Experience of Chaos, the author refers to his personal experience from his recent garbage collection job at the famous Glastonbury Music Festival in England, which prompted a wave of protests by foreign workers who, for two days’ work, received minimum wage and substandard conditions of dismissal.
Kadlčák’s experience as cheap labor confronts the currently high level of consumerism, which itself infringes on the ethics of both sides. Installations consisting of found objects, garbage and lost personal valuables create a parallel to the loss of personal values and point to the consumer habits of society.
