First details of the programme of this year’s Festival of Film Animation Olomouc have been revealed.
As host to numerous important guest artists and experts, PAF 2015 will offer an updated view of the history of film animation and the current trend of connecting animation with spatial-light experiments. The festival is subtitled What is Animation?—a question PAF’s curators will try to answer through programme sections containing exhibitions, screenings, lectures, presentations, workshops and live audio-visual performances.
“Wild '60s” and “Animation Beyond Animation” are the key sections of this year’s programme. Wild '60s section will look into the wild aspects of the production of Czech TV commercials, cartoons and short animated films of the era. The programme will be hosted by the character Pumprlík, who's become known as Mr. Egg (Pan Vajíčko). Animation Beyond Animation will offer an updated view of the history of film animation and the current trend of connecting animation with spatial-light experiments, presenting e.g. the work of Malawian artist Samson Kambalu, who participated in the Venice Biennial 2015.
