PAF VOTES LAUREATE
PAF actively supports also laureate activity and Václav Stratil's Award intended for artists over 35 years old. This year's finalists are Milena Dopitová, Dalibor Chatrný, Krištof Kintera, Jan Merta, Viktor Pivovarov and Tomáš Vaněk. The activity "Artist Has Sense" originated in 2007 from the need to highlight artists worthy of being authorities for the young generation and who deserves respect. After Jiří Kovanda, Vladimír Skrepl, ADriena Šimotová, and the artistic duo Lukáš Jasanský and Martin Polák, the fifth guarantor of the award is Václav Stratil.
The award serves as a gesture of the young generation of artists and theorists towards the generation of older artists. It is especially an appreciation that is mediated to a certain artist whose election is arranged by more than 500 people from the Czech Republic who are not 35 in the time of the election and who thus nominate two artists over 35. The sum of received votes creates a group of five – seven finalists. In the second stage, a laureate is voted every year by a different jury. The age limitation of "nominators" is voted intuitively; character of the award depends on meeting of replaced jury and the finalists in their ateliers.
The award includes also voting of the most appreciated group as well as individual exhibition that took place in the Czech Republic during the past year. The announcement of Václav Stratil's Award laureate 2011 will take place in the auditorium of the Museum of Applied Arts in Brno, on Friday the 25th of November from 6 pm. On basis of young artists', curators' and theorists' voting, the following were nominated:
