On Saturday, November 7, the exhibition opening of the artist Martin Fišr took place, thanks to the cooperation of Vitrína Deniska and KonText (TIC) Gallery in Brno.
Martin Fišr is a man of many hats -- an in sito artist and arts hobbyist, curator and critic, university profession -- who, in his work, uses in particular the elements of the painting material most artists regard as shoddy or trashy, and considers them to be some sort of "image of the time". He works with his unmistakable visuality and is interested in how we correspond to the image we create for a certain time.
He is a collector of postcards dating back to his childhood. He likes to surround himself with them. Literally. He takes his time choosing. Sorting. For his collages he sensitively chooses a pair of postcards, of which that one in particular can tell the story of the other. With his own irony, he tells microstories on the border of a boy's dream, mediated experience and nightmares from school trips. It creates a joyful home installation. An admirer of German advertising calendars and magazines from the times when the 1990s were at their peak. The glossy reproductions overlay color . . . as much as possible. Then he leads a surgically accurate cut, which reveals only a little, because it is just slightly behind.
