The opening of Magdaléna Manderlová's exhibition Child Safety Lock takes place on Wednesday, October 24 th at 6 p.m. at the Vitrína Deniska showcase. The exhibition opening will be followed by a concert in the Corpus Christi Chapel (Konvikt, Univerzitní 3).
Magdaléna Manderlová's audio installation explores the topic of home and identity, the conflict of passers-by speaking about daily happenings in their silent voices. Field recordings and processed speech create a narrative that allows the author to convince herself of where she is and where she belongs, and to question the meaning of home and mother tongue. The contact speakers use the pane of glass of the showcase as a membrane to make sound vibrate, to travel inside-out and outside-in and to be dispersed in space. The exhibition space and matter therefore become part of the work which acts as a physical mediator of contact with the artwork itself.
The concert features Magdaléna Manderlová's new solo project (moin moin, Pinecone) from the field of ambient/live electronic music. Field recordings and abstract surfaces form a cluster of organic sounds and inorganic textures, while song fragments and memories transform into a vast vocal landscape.
