The City Gallery of Pardubice will host a screening of the Other Visions CZ 2019 on Tuesday 30th June from 8pm.
The Other Visions competition aims to map events in the field of moving images and video creation in the Czech Republic. Each year’s selection is unique due to different interest of the curators who nominate ten works. The curator, architect and writer Laura Amann curated the selection of ten works of the Other Visions CZ competition at last year's PAF Olomouc 2019.
In short, there are several options, from trying to introduce a ‘rational’ and ‘objective’ evaluation system to a somewhat embarrassing application of the thematic curatorial concept, but perhaps the fairest solution is to use both, if at least somewhat possible. We would like to cordially invite you to a film tour of ten different islands, interconnected in many ways. Together they create a portrait of the society, albeit fragmented, that deals with the fundamental issues of our time, be it technology, the environment, gender or more. They provide sense to our emotions, psyche, or personal needs, which are part of an eternal puzzle and a journey from inner to outer worlds, a journey you are invited to see and evaluate through certain points of view.
The International Jury Award, awarded by Matt Carter, Zh Fevek and Erika Balsom, was given to Zbyšek Semelka for Advertising the Earth Radio — Stephen P. McGreevy’s VLF Cut-outs video. The Audience Award went to the BCAAsystem’s team for No~one Is an Island.
The screening will be introduced by the competition finalist Tereza Darmovzalová and the PAF platform dramaturgist Nela Klajbanová.
