He graduated in Fine Arts from the Faculty of Teacher Education and in Pedagogy from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb. He was the head of the Multimedia Center at the University of Zagreb, the first in Croatia to systematically screen Croatian and international experimental film and videoart. In 1990s he was the founder and manager of the art cinema ‘Filmoteka 16’, initiated the introduction of animation and new media studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, where he has presently held the position of a professor.
He has been devoted to film since 1960s, in 1970s he enriched his work with videoart, object, sound, photographic installations and performances in public places. His work has been displayed in prestigious cultural institutions, e.g. in the Museum of Contemporary Art in Zagreb or in the Centre Pompidou in Paris.
