Dominik Podsiadly (*1967) , Polish digital artist and an ‘activator’ of Wroclaw digital scene who was excluded from Academy of Fine Arts, Wroclaw in 1994, presents his radically conceptually-minimalistic approach in Big Black exhibition at ScreenSaverGallery.
In Big Black, the exhibition developed site-specifically for the Screen Saver Gallery, Dominik Podsiadly ironizes the fundamental function of a screen saver—screen-saving—just as the very concept of our gallery that was built around this subject matter. With this exhibition, Podsiadly brings back the screen saver its original (and nowadays somewhat retro) meaning, thereby closing the circle of additive functions imposed to it by SSG and other galleries in screen savers through their exhibition cycles.

ScreenSaverGallery is a gallery of contemporary art within your screen saver. “ScreenSaverGallery” should not be perceived just as platform for presentation of contemporary digital art, but it should also become an experimental environment for its development. SSG allows the artists as well as the users to experiment with the situations in which the screensaver may appear or with the technical possibilities of the gallery. Above all, the gallery invites the users (that means YOU as well) to consciously put the exhibited works of art into various visual contexts, to examine these contexts and therefore to shift their original concept.
‘We don’t do exhibitions, we do screensavers!’
