Peter Kubelka (*1934) pochází z malého hornorakouského městečka Wels. V mládí se věnoval především studiu hudby a literatury a také sportu. Po ukončení gymnázia nastoupil na vídeňskou ﬁ lmovou školu, ze které byl značně rozčarován, ovšem ﬁlmy nakonec tvořit začal. Ústředním tématem Kubelkovy tvorby je ﬁlmové sdělení, jeho uchopení a interpretace.
