Garden

screening – Matyáš Trnka

The children’s book Garden (1962) is inherently connected with the name of Jiří Trnka, in the same way as the films A Midsummer Night's Dream and The Hand. The five-episode series of the same name, directed by Břetislav Pojar, originated between 1974–1977. This art work bewitchingly depicted Trnka’s charming world behind the rusted wicket.

The Boy and the World

screening

Two years ago the Brazilian filmmaker Alê Abreu made the film The Boy and the World, through which he tells the story of a boy from a small village who sets out on a journey to the city to find his father. A powerful, artistic style, which alternates between the joyful, as if amateur, strokes of a coloured pencil with pop-art photo-collage,  and the sense of image metaphor and an urgent topic, made this film a classic of Brazilian animation.

The screening was held as part of the Festivals of Live Cinema project activities.

Song of the Sea

If Moor’s first film is an emerald, then Song of the Sea is a sapphire in the coronet of Irish animation.

Blue Daisy (GB)

concert

Kwesi Darko, known as Blue Daisy, is an English producer and rapper. His music includes hip-hop, ambient, rock and blues. His latest album, Darker Than Blue, is very original with respect to sound because of Kwesi’s work with acoustic records of percussion, guitars and string instruments in combination with dirty analogue processing. Therefore it will be no surprise that the album was released by the legendary label R&S Records.
