The exhibition opening of Andrea Pekárková’s Geoethics: #10 A New Underground will take place on Tuesday 15 February, 7 pm, at Vintrína Deniska.
Andrea “Neo” Pekárková alias AKA47 graduated in Visual Communication – Digital Media from Faculty of Art and Architecture in Liberec. With her friends, she was running Gallery 3x3 in Liberec between 2010 and 2013, where she presented young independent art. Her own artwork deals mainly with the VJ performance genre, video and free graphics and is typically characterized by working with the appropriation of existing visual material, lively collages or strong colourfulness. Since 2015, she has been developing a series of digital collages Recreation / Virtual Wellness which works in a similar vein; it combines alternative medicine with contemporary visual language, working with more than 170 artworks trying to enforce the therapeutic harmony of the visual perception.
The strongly “anti-anthropocentric” collection Geoethics forms a part of the above mentioned series. It began last summer as a reaction to the radical changes in the environment and extreme heat waves as a herald of the Great climate change. A New Underground, the tenth collage with such profile, depicts environmental movement as marginal and alternative, yet viable, defeating the paradigm of superiority and exploitation of those who do not defend themselves at the end.
“Recreation does not aim to traumatize the audience but offer, in a positive manner, another way to reconciliation and recovery. Including the recovery of our planet as an autonomous organism.”
