Creative duo Barbora Trnková and Tomáš Javůrek are currently among the most active Czech artists working with expressive means of net art. They create interactive installations, web applications, pictures of the automatization of eminently human (?) mental processes, prayer fast-foods.
"Our collaboration started when we acquired the ability to think together and lost the ability to think independently."
- Tomáš Javůrek
Creative duo Barbora Trnková and Tomáš Javůrek are currently among the most active Czech artists operating with the expressive means of net art, which they deal with in the context of their personal interest in virtuality in general. Elements of poetic expression, mystical perceptions of themselves as well as A meditative mood are reflected in their works. They are both also active beyond the sphere of web interface. Barbora Trnková is a graduate of Atelier of Body Design at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Brno University of Technology, Tomáš Javůrek graduated from Studio Environment at the same university. Many of their installations and performances are accompanied by the element of a mirror that functions as specific guidance for the perception of reality. Under its influence, the duo learn to choose those spots of reality that can be reflected by the mirror and subsequently re-designed by it, thus creating a new reality. In their internet-based work, two basic themes circulate: the generation of a visual identity and shared prayer. The first has most strongly affected The Generation of Princesses – a web-generator that reacts to a name that is entered and a favourite colour by creating/showing a princess-Madonnaicon designed by painter Pavla Kantorová. The concept of shared prayer has been in development since 2011. The original web application Motivo Astratto (later extended into computer application Black) was installed in 2012 in Gallery D9, České Budějovice as PRAYER-SPEAKER and in the House of Art in Opava as the Wi-Fi network Morning Encounter. In all these cases the prayer works on written assignment, mechanical repetition and eye fixation of the recipient, thanks to which the prayer is possible to activate. T&B are not going to stop praying even at the Festival of Film Animation.
