PAF 2016 / THURSDAY 1 DEC

The opening of the jubilee year of PAF will take place during the vernissage of Other Visions CZ, which was curatorially prepared by the art theorist and philosopher Karel Císař. The Spanish film artists Luis Macías and Adriana Vila Guevara, accompanied by the experimental musician Alfredo Costa Monteiro, will perform as part of the Film Labor programme in the Baroque chapel. The world premiere of Moravia, Beautiful Land II, made by Petr Šprincl, who will be in attendance, will also take place. Inga Copeland, aka Lolina, has prepared a special programme for the attic premises of the theatre hall with the American producer John T. Gast and Estonian visual artist Edith Karlson. Accommodation at PAF

As with every year, PAF ensures that its visitors have access to low-cost accommodation; in the school gymnasium and at the after-school club of The Elementary School of St. Ursula, which is only a 10-minute walk from the main festival centre.

Why Look at Animals? Mazanec in a Gallery

A lecture by Martin Mazanec, the main programme manager of PAF, will take place in Gallery 207 at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague (UMPRUM). In the lecture he will present PAF – The Festival of Film Animation and Contemporary Arts in its jubilee year.

COMPETITION FOR PAF ACCREDITATIONS

PAF – The Festival of Film Animation and Contemporary Arts - organises a competition for subscribers to the PAF newsletter. Every day from the 1st of November 2016 to the start of the festival, we will draw one name from the list of subscribers, and that person will win a 4-day accreditation worth CZK 590; free admission to the whole festival.

Pioneer Works presents PAF NEW YORK 2016

The third edition of the audiovisual festival organized by PAF (almost regularly) in New York City will take place at Thursday, Nov 10th – this year in Brooklyn.

Meshes of Despotism in Maribor

As part of the collaboration with the Slovenian festival StopTrick, Jiří Neděla, one of PAF’s programme managers, has prepared a screening block of Czech moving images concerned with the topic of propaganda. The works by approximately dozen of Czech authors will be introduced to the Slovenian audience at the end of October.

ZIEMBA’S (USA) CONCERT IN OLOMOUC

On Monday, 10th October, in the baroque Corpus Christi Chapel in Konvikt there was a concert by the New York-based musician and performer Ziemba, who introduced her debut album Hope Is Never. The event was organized by PAF and KVV.

PAF INTRODUCES ANIMALS AND MACHINES

Animals and Machines, the block of videos made by Dominik Gajarský and Roman Štětina, will be screened on October 1 2016 in London. The videos originated through the initiative of the Czech Centre and are screened with the support of the Czech Centre London, PAF Olomouc and LUX London.

LITR at PechaKuchaNight Olomouc

On Friday September 9 2016 in the Olomouc cinema hall “Metropol”, the twelfth evening of PechaKucha took place to promote art and culture.  LITR – the book fair of authorial and artistic publication, co-organized by PAF, was also introduced.

Private Oasis in Vitrína Deniska

The Other Visions finalist (in 2009 as well as 2010) Lenka Žampachová presented her poetic installation Private Oasis on August 23 2016, at 6 pm, in Vitrína Deniska.

Cosmological anthropology and new ways of animated festivals in Budapest

Lenka Střeláková, the curator of Other Visions 2015, represented PAF at Anilogue, the Hungarian festival of animated film. She attended the round table concerned with new progressive directions being taken by festivals of film animation. She introduced her selection Cosmological Anthropology

THE DIGITAL DOWNLOAD OF PAF EDITION ANTIPRO AT OFLUXO.NET

The new author publication Antipro has been released within PAF Edition. It is the result of the cooperation between the artist Anna Slama and the graphic designer Norman Orro. A limited number of 40 copies have been published.

VIEW Conference held in Turin, Italy

The partner event of PAF – VIEW Conference, which is focused on computer graphics and visual effects, is taking place right now in Turin, Italy. Its seventeenth season runs from October 24th to October 28th, 2016.

Open call – PAF organizes the competition Other Visions SK

PAF Olomouc together with Kinečko magazine organizes, in 2016 for the very first time, the competition of Slovak moving images called Other Visions SK (Iné vízie). Submission deadline for the 1st year of Other Visions SK is September 30, 2016.

2 LITR Programme went public

The second year of the LITR book fair, which is focused not only on authorial and artistic publications and their presentation, but also on phenomena related to the low-cost publication of books and magazines, will take place from Friday, 23 September to Sunday, 25 September 2016. Organised in cooperation with PAF. 

Moving images – three round-tables in GAMU, Prague

On Friday September 2 2016 three round-tables were held in GAMU, Prague, concerning issues related to moving images. Present were experts not only in curatorship, running galleries, the acquisition of art works and collection building, but also in the production and authorial creation of moving images of film and video. The themes for the tables were as follows:  Events, Galleries and Public Collections.

Nine years of Other Visions in GAMU

In collaboration with the curator Lenka Střeláková and Gallery AMU in Prague, PAF is opening the retrospective exhibition OTHER VISIONS CZ (2007-2015) that will present the past nine years of the competition and a total number of 90 videos by Czech artists this summer.
