On Tuesday August 8, in cooperation with Vitrína Deniska, KonText gallery in Brno will host an exhibition opening for the artist David Bartoš.
A native of Prostějov and frontman of the band Chilly Weather, David Bartoš came on to the arts scene years ago as a student of fine arts at the Pedagogical Faculty of Palacky University Olomouc, where his artistic expression—leaning towards intermediality and conceptual approaches—was significantly shaped. He was further enriched by the Olomouc experience and the influence of educator and artist Vladimír Havlík and the parallel perspective of the Environment studio of Barbora Klímová and Matěj Smetana at FaVU Brno.
For his graduation project at the department of Arts Education at Palacky University, Integrální humanismus / Integral Humanism (2017), he created a social doctrine of integral humanism, propagating current issues of humanism and world peace through the specialized rhetoric used by political campaigns.
Similarly, he also considers the concept for the Enviromem exhibition, in which he gradually fills the niches of the KonText gallery with a simulated alternative reality subject to copyright manipulation. The reality of sociological research here confronts the contemporary mechanisms behind the propagation of memes, hoaxes, and conspiracy theories, illustrating not only the circulation of information in mass media and social networks, but above all the transformation of a man who is not tarnished by anything, and thus totally free, into an object that acts, thinks, is aware, and educates himself, and lives within ideologies, whether social, cultural, political or religious.
